Fun in Branson...Grades for this Semester

Well, time sure does fly when you're having FUN!! I can't believe Pat and I just got through celebrating our one year anniversary!! On Friday the 13th but we had good luck the whole day :)  We spent three nights in Branson, MO. We left on Thursday May 12th after we dropped Holly off at school. We loved our hotel, it's called the AmazInn and Suites. The beds had pillowtop mattresses and they were sooo comfortable. We were tempted to steal it and bring it home with us, lol.
The first thing we did when we got to Branson was check into our hotel room so we could drop all our stuff off and not lug it around with us. We go to a Golden Corral to eat lunch because we are both starving. They are having a contest between the waitresses and want us to fill out a card and turn it in. We turn it in and this guy, Michael is telling us about the tickets we can get cheaper through him than if we bought them from the individual places. Well come to find out, they were wanting us to go and listen to a timeshare thing. So, anyway because of me we were going to have to go at 9:00 the next morning to listen to this. They gave us our tickets for the Baldknobbers show that night but we had to go to the presentation to get the rest of our tickets.
We really enjoyed the Baldknobbers!! They told some very funny jokes (that I can't remember now!) and sang some really good songs. When we left the show, it was pouring down rain and we got our feet soaked before we made it to the car. We got up at 7:00 Friday morning to eat breakfast and go and sit throug our dreaded presentation. We got there about 15 minutes early and found where we were supposed to go. Luckily for us, the presenter didn't make it and we DIDN'T have to sit through the presentation!!! We were sent to another place and we got the rest of our tickets.
We went to the Wax Musuem and took a few pictures of me and Pat with some of the wax figures.  After that, we went and watched the Acrobats of China at 3:00 pm. It was really awesome. I can't believe some of the stuff they could do. After it was over, we went on a tour at the Stonehill Winery. We got to taste different wines and a 100% grape juice that they make. We ended up buying three bottles of wine and one bottle of grape juice. We went and watched the Presleys' at 8:00 that evening. It was pretty good but we both liked the Baldknobbers better.
Saturday we watched an IMAX movie. That was my first time of watching one. We watched Born to Be Free which was narrated by Morgan Freeman. I enjoyed it and I wouldn't mind buying the movie when it comes out on DVD. We went to Ripley's Believe It or Not. It was pretty interesting and we took some pictures in there of some pretty neat things! That night we went and watched John Conlee and Gene Watson in concert. I really enjoyed it!! They are both great performers and they did a great job of keeping everyone entertained.
All in all, it was a great anniversary trip. It sure went by fast. We had to leave early Sunday morning because Pat had to go to work. He wasn't able to get if off because too many other people had requested it off. He was pretty tired when he got home that night.  I hope we get to do something again next year for our anniversary. I sure enjoyed this one :)
Well another semester has gone by. I finished this one up on May 6. I was very excited to see that I made "A's" in all my classes. I hope I do as well in my summer classes. I'm taking physical science lecture and American Sign Language. I'm getting closer to getting my degree. I enjoyed my first internship. The teacher and students were all great. I already miss them :(  I asked the teacher if I could come back next year and help out in the classroom and she told me she would love it if I could. So I definitely will be there. I learned a lot from her during my internship and I feel I can learn even more from her!!
I hope everyone encourages their chilren and grandchildren to read during the summer while they are out of school. I will be taking Holly to the library and to bookstores this summer to let her pick out books. I also plan on reading some books for pleasure (when I can!). Check out www.scholastic.com/summer to join the Scholastic Summer Challenge.
 Til next time,
Lana

Where Did the Time Go?

It's hard for me to believe that 2010 is gone and that January 2011 is almost over as well. I managed to make "A's" in both of my college classes I took last semester. I miss my friends I made in my Comp II class!

I'm looking forward to this semester though because I get to do my first Internship at a school. I will be going one day a week for 8 weeks. I'm looking forward to being involved at a school again. I miss my old job and I'll be so glad when I finish getting my teaching degree.

My daughter, Holly, is all excited about her Prom. She has been looking at dresses in magazines and trying to decide which one she wants. She is also saving up money to get her hair and nails done. I'm excited for her to and in some ways, sad. Next year she'll have another Prom and then she'll be graduating :( My "baby" is almost all grown up.

I'm going to be going on vacation in a couple of months. I doubt if I'll go anywhere but it will be nice to have a week away from Wal-Mart! I'm hoping Pat, Holly and I can  go somewhere in May for a nice vacation. Pat and I went to San Antonio last year for our Honeymoon and we had a lot of fun. I'd like to go somewhere different this year. He's trying to get me to go somewhere on his motorcycle but I'm not too thrilled about that idea!! I'm scared of riding on them.

I'd like to go back to Eureka Springs. Holly and I went there a few years ago and visited the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. We both enjoyed it except for the heat, we went there in July. It would be fun to go back this spring. I have always had a soft spot for big cats. They are such beautiful animals!!

I haven't had any story ideas lately. That makes me sad :(  I wish I could get myself motivated to write. I think having to write all those essays last semester put me off writing. None of them were ones that I could be creative with. We had topics we had to write over and that was not fun. I can understand how students feel when a teacher tells them what to write about. It is more enjoyable if you like what you are writing about. I will have to remember that when I get my own classroom :)

I'm hoping to post on here more often but between working, going to school, homework, and laundry, I don't have a lot of time.

 Until next time,
Lana
